WTM Logistics · Calgary–Lloydminster · Freight hotshot

WTM Logistics can arrange an accepted tailgate-equipped freight hotshot from Calgary to a Lloydminster delivery point without a loading dock. The urgency of the movement and the method of unloading are separate requirements. Quote both so the shipment is assigned suitable equipment before the crate leaves the supplier.

Measure the complete crate and supporting base

Provide length, width, height and gross weight, including the pallet or base. Identify projections, a high centre of gravity and any restrictions supplied for handling the load. Those details matter even when the contents themselves are compact.

Tailgate suitability depends on more than a headline weight capacity. The platform, load dimensions, stability and handling arrangement all need to fit the specific movement. Send the actual specifications rather than treating all crates described as one pallet as equivalent.

Describe the ground-level receiving point

Give the entrance and the surface where unloading will take place. Explain access limitations and identify the person receiving the crate. A safe ground-level handoff is not automatically inside placement, travel across rough ground or carrying equipment up steps.

Discuss any movement required after unloading before approving the quote. The receiving business may need to supply its own equipment or staff for the final placement. WTM can plan the agreed transport handoff without assuming installation work is included.

Keep the dedicated deadline realistic

State the Calgary ready time and when the Lloydminster receiver must have the load. A tailgate requirement can affect which vehicle is suitable, while urgency determines whether direct hotshot is the appropriate service. A non-urgent dockless pallet may be better suited to an agreed LTL arrangement.

For example, a replacement unit may need to reach a small commercial premises before its service technician’s appointment. Book against the time the premises needs to accept the crate, allowing the technician to undertake its own work afterwards.

Give the receiver useful arrival information

Use GPS tracking in the WTM Customer Portal to coordinate the handoff. A receiver who knows the agreed arrival arrangement can keep the unloading area accessible and have the authorised contact ready. Tracking is useful alongside those arrangements, not instead of them.

Retain the available POD and invoice with the equipment order. If the previous unit is to leave as a return shipment, describe its packaging, preparation and timing separately. A replacement delivery does not automatically make the old unit ready for loading.

Tailgate hotshot questions

Does tailgate delivery include taking the crate indoors?

Only when that additional handling is specifically agreed. State the complete receiving requirement before accepting the quote.

Can a pallet be too large even when its weight seems acceptable?

Yes. Supply the full load dimensions and handling characteristics so dispatch can confirm equipment suitability.
