Calgary ↔ Fort St. John · Freight hotshot

WTM Logistics provides dedicated hotshot collection of prepared project tooling from Fort St. John yards for delivery to Calgary owners, workshops or the next project team. When a yard is demobilising, the critical deadline may be the last time equipment can be released—not simply the next project's start date. Plan the collection while access and loading support are still available.

Identify ownership and release authority

List the tooling, cases and accessories that belong to the returning consignment. Give the yard contact authority to release those identified items to WTM. Shared storage can contain equipment from several contractors, so a clear release list prevents unrelated items from being loaded by assumption.

Use an asset or project reference visible on the prepared packages. The driver can collect against the agreed description while the owners maintain their own asset records and resolve any missing items directly.

Preserve loading support until collection

Tell dispatch when the loading crew and equipment will be available. A yard may remain accessible after its forklift or lifting team has left, which changes the collection arrangement. Include that constraint in the original request.

Provide packed dimensions and weights for the tooling and transport frames. Awkward fixtures and long cases may need specific vehicle space. Include any owner's instructions on orientation, support and handling before the hotshot is accepted.

Confirm the Calgary destination independently

Returning to the owner does not necessarily mean returning to the original pickup address. The next destination could be a workshop, different depot or a new project staging point. Obtain the current receiving contact and address.

Dedicated urgency can be justified when the prepared equipment must leave before a firm yard closure. If the release and receiving dates are flexible, WTM can also discuss scheduled freight. Choose the service around the actual constraints instead of describing every demobilisation item as an emergency.

Close the transport side of the project

Use the Customer Portal for quote approval, payment and GPS tracking. Keep the collection list and transport reference together so the destination can reconcile the delivered pieces.

Retain the POD and invoice for project closeout, while separately recording asset condition and ownership transfers in your own system. WTM's transportation record helps show where the prepared tooling went; it does not replace the contractor's equipment inventory or inspection process.

Frequently asked questions

Can you collect before a yard closes for demobilisation?

Provide the exact access deadline, prepared load and loading availability so WTM can confirm a suitable hotshot plan.

Can the tooling go directly to another Calgary project?

Yes, when the owner authorises the destination and the receiving details form part of the accepted booking.

Move from a quote to a trackable shipment

The WTM Customer Portal brings shipment requests, quote approval and online payment together. Use live GPS tracking during transport and retrieve the issued BOL, POD and invoice afterwards. Your history gives repeat shipments a useful reference.
