Calgary ↔ Fort St. John · Freight hotshot

WTM Logistics arranges tailgate-equipped hotshot transportation from Calgary to Fort St. John for suitable crated replacement units going to receivers without a loading dock. The urgent deadline and the unloading method are separate requirements. Tell dispatch about both so the replacement arrives on equipment that can complete the agreed handoff.

Describe the unit as it will reach the receiver

Provide the crate's external dimensions, total weight and base construction. Include the pallet or skid and identify any projections. Explain whether the unit can remain on its transport base or needs another handling arrangement after unloading.

A tailgate quotation needs more than the product weight in a catalogue. The actual load, its footprint and the available handling equipment determine what can be accepted. WTM will match the vehicle to the described consignment rather than relying on the word “small” or “portable.”

Confirm where ground-level delivery happens

Identify a suitable receiving area and a person authorised to accept the unit. Describe surfaces, access constraints and any equipment that will move the crate after it is lowered. A ground-level handoff is not automatically inside placement or installation.

A shop entrance, a fenced yard and a separate worksite each need clear directions. If the final destination changes, revisit the handling plan before the vehicle is committed to the movement.

Keep the emergency timing separate from unloading

State when the Calgary supplier can release the crate and when the receiver needs it. Dedicated hotshot is the service for an urgent direct movement; a tailgate is the handling capability used at one or both ends.

A flexible dockless pallet may use a different freight option. Conversely, an urgent load going to a fully equipped dock may need hotshot without a tailgate. Giving both facts to WTM helps avoid paying for an unsuitable service description.

Use the shipment record to coordinate the crew

Approve the complete quote through the Customer Portal, including the stated unloading arrangement. Follow real-time GPS tracking and have the receiver ready for the agreed handoff.

After delivery, retain the POD and invoice with the replacement-unit reference. The receiver handles its own unpacking, equipment checks and installation. If an old unit needs to return to Calgary, describe it as a separate prepared load so its weight, condition and collection method can be assessed rather than assumed to mirror the new crate.

Frequently asked questions

Does tailgate delivery mean installation inside the building?

No. Describe inside placement or any additional handling separately so it can be assessed and expressly agreed.

Can a single crate use dedicated hotshot?

Yes. The urgency, size and receiving requirements determine the appropriate service, not a minimum pallet count.

Keep the next delivery easy to arrange

Start a request, review the quoted service and approve it through your WTM Customer Portal. Make payment online and follow the shipment with real-time GPS. Available BOLs, PODs and invoices stay connected with the shipment history.

WTM offers 10% off recurring shipments. A funded credit account separately offers up to 25% off eligible services. Confirm the applicable offer with your quote; the two offers are not automatically combined.
