Build the plan through to the Alberta receiver

Start with the exact destination, not only “Alberta.” A Calgary distribution centre, an Edmonton repair shop and a regional industrial site require different final-delivery instructions. Include the postal code, receiving contact, appointment and available unloading equipment.

For ocean shipments, the quoted Canadian gateway and inland transport form part of the plan. For air shipments, the selected arrival airport and subsequent delivery determine the handoff. Ask WTM to set out the proposed stages instead of treating an overseas departure as a completed Alberta delivery schedule.

Match ocean and air to your purchasing cycle

Planned inventory and suitable larger orders may justify an ocean comparison. An urgent replacement or production-critical item may justify air freight. If only one part of the purchase is urgent, identify it separately so you can compare a split shipment with moving the whole order on one mode.

Planning example: an Edmonton equipment business has a crated component and routine boxed stock ready at a Chinese supplier. The component is needed for a repair; the stock can follow the normal replenishment plan. Send separate packed measurements and required dates so each option is priced against the correct requirement.

Industrial cargo needs a useful packing list

List each pallet or crate with its outer dimensions, gross weight and lifting or support requirements. Identify projecting components, fragile surfaces and non-stackable units. Declare residual fluids, batteries or other special contents for review. A product weight alone does not describe a transport-ready machine.

Confirm who prepares the goods at origin and who can unload them in Alberta. A dock or forklift arrangement, a ground-level tailgate delivery and lifting a heavy component into position are different services. Installation, unpacking and rigging must not be assumed from a freight quote.

Plan Calgary, Edmonton and regional delivery separately

Highway 2 connects the Calgary–Red Deer–Edmonton corridor. A destination farther along Highway 16 or toward the northeast requires its own delivery plan. Name Red Deer, Hinton, Fort McMurray or a rural site explicitly if that is the actual consignee.

For project freight, give the gate instructions, site contact and receiving hours. Confirm whether the location can accept the full order at once. Do not schedule a site crew solely against an estimated international arrival; coordinate the final confirmed delivery appointment.

WTM’s LTL freight and Canadian freight brokerage services can be discussed for the domestic delivery requirement. Consult Alberta 511 for current provincial road information.

Quote the complete replenishment requirement

Share your usual supplier production dates and inventory targets. Keep manufacturing delays separate from transport estimates. Review the packed load for every order: a new crate, changed pallet height or added unit may affect both the international movement and Alberta unloading.

Ask the quote to identify origin work, international transport, Canadian arrival handling, the import responsibilities and final delivery. Confirm separately payable charges and the terms that apply if the goods cannot be collected or received as planned.

China-to-Alberta shipping questions

Can one crate be assessed for international shipping?

Yes. Send its packed dimensions, weight, commodity and route. The number of pieces alone does not determine the mode.

Can an imported pallet move onward by LTL?

Ask for an assessment using its prepared dimensions, handling needs and receiver. International release and domestic collection must be coordinated.

Does an Edmonton-area arrival include a rural site delivery?

Only when that destination and work are part of the agreed scope. Include the full site details in the original request.
