Prepare a first-order receiving brief
A new buyer may not recognise the supplier's packaging or know which staff member arranged the purchase. Include the store trading name, buyer contact and purchase-order reference. State the final carton count so receiving staff can reconcile the consignment without opening every outer box.
When a supplier ships several product lines, list any different transport requirements. Do not use the word “chilled” as a substitute for the producer's actual instruction or assume frozen items can be added to the same setting.
Measure the shipment as a retailer will receive it
Provide package sizes, gross weight and stacking restrictions. A small mixed introductory assortment may use protective packaging that increases the footprint. Quote that finished load, not the product weights listed on a catalogue.
