Replace “cheap and fast” with two useful boundaries
State when the pallet will be ready in Calgary and the latest time it can arrive at the Grande Prairie receiver. Then say which parts of that window can move. “Ready Monday; needed before the Wednesday installation” is a clearer buying instruction than “as soon as possible.”
A carrier can use that flexibility to check suitable planned capacity. Without it, a request labelled urgent may be quoted for a more immediate service than you need. Conversely, choosing a lower-priced option that misses the job’s deadline is not a saving.
Obtain a scheduled quote and an urgent alternative
Ask WTM to describe the available LTL arrangement first, then price a dedicated alternative when useful. Have both offers use the same packed load, addresses and unloading requirement.
| Question | Why it belongs in both quotes |
|---|
| Is Calgary collection included? | A terminal-to-terminal price is not a door-to-door price |
| When will the receiver obtain the pallet? | A delivery window matters more than an undefined “express” label |
| Is fuel included or listed separately? | Compare the complete applicable charge |
| Does Grande Prairie delivery need a tailgate? | Unloading changes the job, regardless of freight speed |
| What assumptions could change the amount? | Changed dimensions or access can make the original basis inaccurate |
This is a buying worksheet, not a published tariff. WTM quotes the actual consignment; no market-wide cheapest-price claim is needed to compare your options sensibly.
Pay for the pallet you have, not the one in a stock example
Record the complete footprint, loaded height, gross weight and stackability. A tall light pallet may use significant space. A short dense unit may create a different loading requirement. Include any fragile projecting part and do not present a non-stackable item as stackable to reduce a quote.
Ask the supplier for the finished specification. A catalogue product weight may leave out the pallet, protective materials and accessories. Accurate input reduces the chance that a seemingly cheaper offer changes after collection.
A simple decision example
Suppose two offers both include pickup and unloading. The less expensive scheduled option arrives before the receiver’s stated deadline; the dedicated option arrives earlier but does not create an additional business benefit. The scheduled option may be the better purchase for that situation.
If only the dedicated offer meets the deadline, compare its additional cost with the consequence of waiting. Do not label an unsuitable lower price the winner. Keep any cost-of-delay estimate as your own business assumption, not a carrier guarantee.
Use account savings where they genuinely apply
WTM offers 10% off recurring shipments and, under a separate funded-credit arrangement, up to 25% off eligible services. Have the applicable offer reflected in your quote. Do not add the percentages together or assume a one-time pallet automatically qualifies for every programme.
Does WTM ship pallets from Calgary, not only from Grande Prairie?
Yes. Put the Calgary supplier or warehouse in the pickup field and the Grande Prairie receiver in the destination field. The core LTL service is the starting point for the enquiry.
Can the pallet be delivered without a forklift?
State the ground-level unloading requirement before booking. WTM can assess suitable tailgate equipment for the packed load and site.
Ask for “the most economical option that arrives by my deadline.” That gives WTM a meaningful price-and-speed target for your pallet.
A clear next step for your shipment
Send the actual pickup, destination and shipment details to WTM. Existing customers can manage requests, quote approvals and payments in the Customer Portal, then follow the shipment with real-time GPS and access its available delivery records.
For regular work, WTM offers 10% off recurring shipments. A funded credit account separately offers up to 25% off eligible services. The offers are separate, not an automatic combined discount.
