Decide what a good carrier must do for this pallet
The best fit must cover the exact Edmonton release point and the actual Cranbrook receiver. Establish whether the goods are at your premises, a supplier’s warehouse or a private seller’s address. Then confirm whether the receiver has a dock, a forklift or a ground-level unloading requirement.
A statement that a company serves Cranbrook is useful, but it is not a complete commitment for your origin, delivery date and load. Ask for those conditions together in the quotation.
Compare LTL with dedicated service on equal terms
| Your shipment priority | Option to ask WTM to quote | What to verify |
|---|
| One or a few pallets with a workable receiving window | Scheduled LTL | Collection window, planned arrival and unloading |
| A deadline that cannot wait for a suitable shared service | Dedicated transport or hotshot | Available vehicle, ready time and complete arrival plan |
| Chilled or frozen palletised goods | Appropriate refrigerated freight | Product-specific conditions and compatible capacity |
| A non-stackable or awkward crate | Equipment selected for the packed load | Occupied space, clearance and handling |
These are starting points. The number of pallets does not by itself determine the service, and an urgent shipment does not become small enough for a van simply because it contains one handling unit.
Prepare one specification for every quotation
State the outer length, width and loaded height of each pallet, its gross weight and whether another load may be placed above it. Include overhang and attached packaging. Describe the goods rather than writing only “general freight.”
For illustration, an enquiry might describe one 48 × 40 × 50-inch packed pallet weighing 600 pounds, ready at an Edmonton warehouse on a stated date, with delivery to a Cranbrook business requiring a tailgate. Those are example inputs—not a rate offer or a standard equipment limit.
The quotation should distinguish transport from any additional loading, appointment or inside-delivery work. Ask what changes would require a revised price before booking, especially if the supplier has not finished packing.
Set the Cranbrook receiving plan before collection
Give the goods entrance, receiving contact and available hours. A pallet delivered to the building is not automatically a pallet carried into a storage room. Explain the intended handoff and have the receiver prepare the agreed equipment or access.
Check the receiving date as well as the highway journey. A load reaching town after the receiver closes has not met a requirement to be in its warehouse that afternoon. WTM confirms the service timing for the accepted booking; this guide does not assign a universal transit time to every Edmonton–Cranbrook shipment.
Keep the shipment and its records connected
Use a consistent reference for the supplier release, booking and receiver. The WTM Customer Portal supports quote approval, payment, live GPS tracking and issued BOLs, PODs and invoices. Your product packing list remains separate from the carrier’s delivery record.
Can WTM collect directly from an Edmonton supplier?
Yes. Provide the release reference and confirm that the supplier has packed and authorised the goods for collection.
Do I need a full truck for a single pallet?
Not usually as a starting assumption. Ask for WTM LTL freight and compare dedicated transportation only when the load or deadline makes it appropriate.
Request an Edmonton-to-Cranbrook pallet quote with your real dimensions and receiving deadline. Choose the offer that completes the job, not merely the one with the nearest office.
