Establish where the goods actually are
A tracking event may name a city, terminal or processing point. It does not necessarily mean the item is ready at a public collection counter. Contact the holding carrier and ask whether an authorised third-party pickup is possible for that specific consignment.
Obtain the correct physical address, pickup point, release reference and available window. Do not send a new driver merely because the shipment appears close to the receiver on a tracking page.
Have the entitled party arrange release
The holding carrier may require instructions from its shipper, account holder or authorised recipient. Follow that carrier’s process. WTM cannot create release authority by arriving at the facility.
Settle any outstanding instructions or applicable charges with the original provider through its normal process. This guide does not establish a right to collect goods, waive fees or bypass a hold. It explains how to organise a permitted handoff into a new transport booking.
Give the new carrier the load it will actually receive
Ask whether the goods are one carton, several pieces or a palletised load. Obtain packed dimensions and gross weight, and clarify how the depot will load them. A courier vehicle selected for a single box cannot be assumed suitable for a pallet because both use the same tracking reference.
| Before booking WTM, confirm | Why it matters |
|---|
| Written or otherwise accepted release authorisation | Establishes that the depot may hand over the goods |
| Physical readiness at the collection point | Avoids a trip to an item still in processing |
| Final pieces, size and weight | Supports suitable vehicle selection |
| Collection window and contact | Makes the handoff workable |
| New destination and deadline | Defines the onward transport job |
Keep the two movements distinguishable
The original carrier’s tracking reference and WTM’s new shipment reference may serve different legs. Record both so the parties can identify the handoff. WTM’s POD will relate to the agreed onward delivery, not rewrite the history of the first carrier’s movement.
Ask how old labels and new identification should be handled. Do not remove information needed for depot release before the holding carrier has accepted the collection process.
Match urgency to actual availability
Onward hotshot transportation may be useful for a released shipment with a strict receiving deadline. It cannot solve goods that the depot has not yet located or authorised for collection. Establish readiness before paying for another urgent vehicle.
WTM can assess a parcel courier, pallet freight or dedicated option according to the load. Provide the complete request through the quote form, including the holding carrier’s release details and the receiver’s availability.
Can WTM collect using only my tracking number?
Do not assume so. Obtain the holding carrier’s permission and required release information for the specific shipment.
Does booking another courier cancel the first carrier’s service?
No. Resolve any change with the original provider separately and avoid conflicting instructions.
Can this be a final delivery from a terminal to my home?
WTM can assess an authorised terminal-to-address request. Include residential access and unloading where applicable.
Confirm release first, then book the onward journey. The useful service is a coordinated handoff—not a driver searching a depot for an unconfirmed parcel.
