Tailgate hotshot between Lethbridge and Cranbrook combines urgent direct transport with an agreed way to unload a pallet where no loading dock is available. WTM Logistics can use suitable 5-ton straight-truck capacity and tailgate handling for a prepared load that fits the confirmed equipment arrangement.

The pallet’s arrival is only useful when it can be transferred at the destination. Explain that receiving task at the same time as the delivery deadline.

Describe the complete pallet

Provide length, width, height and total weight, including packaging. Identify overhanging items, the load’s orientation and anything that affects how it can be positioned on the vehicle and tailgate. A photograph is helpful alongside actual measurements.

Tell WTM if the load is a crate, machinery assembly or multiple boxes secured to a pallet. The package description should match the unit being moved, not a list of individual product dimensions from the supplier invoice.

Explain the ground-level receiving conditions

Identify the intended unloading area and describe the surface and access. A tailgate transfers a suitable load between vehicle and ground; the onward movement still needs a workable path and an agreed handling arrangement.

Loose gravel, steps, tight doors and a long route into a building can change what is required. Give WTM those details before confirmation instead of treating every location without a dock as the same delivery job.

Separate tailgate transfer from inside placement

Receiving at ground level does not automatically include moving the pallet through a building, unpacking it or positioning equipment for installation. Specify those requirements when requesting the quote so the service can be arranged correctly.

For illustration, a Cranbrook workshop might need an urgent crated component delivered to a paved receiving area beside its service door. If the component must then travel down a corridor, the customer needs to explain that additional task rather than assume a tailgate solves it.

Keep the receiver available for the urgent handoff

Name the person accepting the load and confirm when they can receive. Identify any receiving equipment or assistance that forms part of the agreed plan. A locked yard with no one responsible for unloading can prevent completion even after a successful direct journey.

WTM’s GPS tracking helps coordinate that receiver. The POD records the handoff, while the customer’s own receiving check can confirm the condition and contents against the purchase order.

Does every pallet need a 53-foot trailer?

No. Suitable pallets can be moved using smaller appropriate equipment, including a 5-ton straight truck, when their weight, dimensions and handling fit.

Can the driver leave a pallet wherever space is available?

Agree the receiving position and authorised handoff before delivery. The location needs to be suitable for the load and equipment, not simply vacant.

Request a tailgate hotshot with the pallet details and dockless receiving conditions included from the start.

Give the receiving team useful visibility

Manage your request, quote approval and payment through the WTM Customer Portal. Live GPS tracking supports your delivery coordination. When the shipment is complete, access the available proof of delivery and invoice, and refer to the historical record when planning another collection.

For repeat business, ask about the 10% recurring-shipment offer or the separate funded-credit arrangement with up to 25% off eligible services. WTM confirms which arrangement applies to your quote.
