WTM Logistics · Calgary–Red Deer · Southbound

Red Deer machine shops can use WTM hotshot service to send finished components to a Calgary assembly team working to a fixed deadline. The shipment should leave after the approved part is released, properly protected and matched to the receiver’s job. Dedicated transport moves that ready component; it does not replace inspection, revision approval or the customer’s assembly checks.

Release the correct finished revision

Identify the work order, component number or revision the receiver expects. The shop should complete its own release process before confirming readiness. Moving the first available piece is not useful if the customer needs a later approved version.

Keep technical records with the order in the form agreed by the sender and receiver. The delivery label needs a clear reference, but the driver should not be responsible for interpreting a drawing or checking that a machining operation is complete.

Protect the surfaces that matter

Prepare the component in suitable packaging or on a stable base. Identify exposed machined faces, projections, lifting points or an orientation requirement. Include all external dimensions and the packed weight, including the crate or pallet.

If the unit is oily, heavy or awkward to lift, disclose its condition and handling needs. Clean containment and an appropriate loading method should be established before arrival rather than improvised while the vehicle waits.

Book the assembly handoff, not just the street address

Give the Calgary receiving department, goods entrance and authorised contact. An assembly crew may need the part at a specific bay rather than at a central mailroom. State whether a crane, forklift or other receiving resource needs an appointment.

Work backwards from the crew’s required handoff time. WTM can assess the direct movement once it has the actual ready time and route. A production-start deadline is not automatically the same as the latest delivery time if unpacking or internal checks still need to happen.

Record the delivery against the production job

Follow the shipment using GPS tracking and retain the POD with the work-order reference. This provides a clear transport record for the shop and customer without implying that the part has passed the customer’s final inspection.

If remaining non-critical components can travel later, quote those separately under the appropriate service. A focused hotshot for one essential unit can support the deadline while the rest of the order follows a planned arrangement.

Can a single machined part justify hotshot service?

Yes. The receiving deadline can justify dedicated transport even when the load is small. Provide its size, weight and handling needs.

Will WTM unload directly into the assembly area?

Specify the required handoff and access in the quote. Ordinary delivery does not automatically include internal placement or lifting beyond the agreed service.

Release the approved component, identify the receiving bay and give WTM the deadline for the direct trip to Calgary.
