Calgary ↔ Fort St. John · Freight hotshot

WTM Logistics moves suitable finished pipe spools and fabricated fittings from Calgary fabricators to Fort St. John receivers by dedicated freight hotshot. When installation depends on a completed fabrication, the transportation plan should use the final shape and packing—not the dimensions of the drawing before the work was finished.

Confirm fabrication release before sending a vehicle

The fabricator should identify the completed assembly and authorise its collection. Include the job number and any tags that the site team uses to match the part with the installation. Technical checks and release approvals remain with the responsible businesses.

If the design or final quantity changes, update the transport request. One additional branch or flange can alter a load's external envelope even when the main pipe length stays the same. A photograph can help describe the prepared unit alongside actual measurements.

Measure the whole supported load

Provide overall length, width and height, gross weight and the dimensions of any cradle or skid. Identify lifting points, orientation requirements and surfaces that must be protected. Long or awkward pieces require suitable equipment and an accepted loading method.

Do not describe an irregular spool only by nominal pipe size. Transport space depends on the assembled shape, protection and support. WTM can assess the appropriate vehicle without assuming that every fabrication fits inside an ordinary courier van.

Align dispatch with installation receiving

Provide the FSJ unloading point, equipment and authorised contact. A contractor's office is not automatically the delivery site. Include access instructions and the arrival window the receiving crew can support.

Dedicated hotshot can move the released fabrication without waiting for unrelated freight. Give the earliest realistic ready time and the latest receiving deadline so the movement is matched to the installation sequence, not merely labelled urgent.

Keep the handoff connected to the job

Approve the quote through the Customer Portal and follow real-time GPS tracking. Keep the fabrication reference on the shipment so the POD and invoice can be located against the correct project.

At delivery, the receiver should reconcile the external tags and piece count with its own job record. Transport completion does not replace installation checks. If the package includes reusable cradles or lifting frames that need to return to Calgary, list them in a separate return request or an expressly agreed two-way quotation.

Frequently asked questions

Can you quote an irregularly shaped fabricated spool?

Yes. Supply the full supported dimensions, weight, photos where useful and loading requirements for equipment assessment.

Do transport dimensions come from the pipe size alone?

No. Include branches, flanges, protective packaging and the supporting skid or cradle.

Book, approve and follow the shipment

Request your next shipment in the WTM Customer Portal, review and approve the quote, and pay online. Real-time GPS tracking helps you follow the movement; issued BOLs, PODs, invoices and shipment history keep the transport records together.

WTM offers 10% off recurring shipments. A funded credit account separately offers up to 25% off eligible services. Confirm the applicable offer with your quote; the two offers are not automatically combined.
