WTM Logistics · Shipping questions answered
WTM Logistics can arrange collection of suitable auction purchases and delivery within its operating coverage. The key is to book against the auction site’s release requirements and removal deadline—not merely the day you won the lot. Small boxed lots may suit courier service; palletised equipment and larger prepared items need an appropriate freight plan.

Separate the sale, release and collection dates
Winning a bid does not tell a driver when the goods can leave. Confirm payment clearance, the release document, the collection location and the deadline for removing the lot. Some online auctions hold equipment at a seller’s premises rather than at the auction company’s main yard.
Ask who schedules the appointment and whether a carrier may collect on your behalf. As a concrete example, Ritchie Bros.’ Edmonton pickup information directs customers to schedule equipment pickup appointments. Follow the conditions for your specific sale and site; do not transfer another yard’s hours or loading rules to your booking.
Describe what is actually being collected
An auction lot number is a useful identifier, not a freight specification. A lot may contain a machine, several loose accessories and a crate stored elsewhere. Obtain a current piece list and identify which parts are already secured for transportation.
Provide the largest packed dimensions and the gross weight, along with any loading restrictions. Explain whether the yard supplies a forklift or other loading service. WTM should know whether the purchase is hand-loadable, palletised, crated or requires a separately arranged lifting operation.
A sales photo is helpful, but it may show equipment assembled or installed rather than ready to travel. Ask the seller who handles disconnection, dismantling, packaging and loose components. The transport booking must describe the finished collection job.
Use the removal deadline to choose the service
An early booking gives dispatch more room to consider a planned freight movement. A last-minute collection with a fixed yard slot may need dedicated transport. Compare the total job, including agreed waiting or loading requirements, rather than assuming the cheapest line-haul rate can meet the appointment.
For example, a buyer collecting two crated shop tools needs the release paperwork, the yard slot and a receiver with suitable unloading access. The truck’s arrival at the yard is only one part of that sequence. The equipment also needs somewhere agreed to go after collection.
Keep the buyer’s responsibilities visible
Complete the purchase and resolve release questions with the auctioneer before dispatch. WTM transports the released goods; it does not bid for you, verify the commercial value of the lot or certify the equipment’s operating condition.
Give the driver a collection reference that matches the paperwork and identify the authorised receiver. Keep photographs of the released shipment and use the POD to match delivery to the purchased lot. The Customer Portal keeps the transport quote, payment and available shipment records together.
Can one vehicle collect several lots?
Request that arrangement with a complete list, including any different collection locations. A second lot at another seller’s yard is an additional pickup, not an automatic inclusion.
Can I obtain a freight estimate before bidding?
Yes. Supply the best available shipping dimensions, weight and location, clearly identifying anything still provisional. Confirm the final load and release conditions after the sale before approving the transport booking.
Send WTM the lot details, removal deadline and delivery address. We will quote the transport that fits the auction collection—not an unrelated generic parcel service.
Arrange the next shipment without losing the paperwork
The WTM Customer Portal keeps shipment requests, quote decisions, online payments and history in one place. Track active deliveries with real-time GPS and find issued bills of lading, PODs and invoices when the shipment is complete.
