Define the direct movement in writing

Provide the exact pickup and delivery addresses, ready time and latest useful arrival. State whether the vehicle collects one identified load or needs extra pickups. Additional collections change the route and should not be hidden inside the phrase direct delivery.

List every transport unit with its packed dimensions, weight and handling restrictions. A tall crate, a low skid and several loose cases can have the same total weight but require different space and securing arrangements.

Compare equipment and handling, not just speed

Ask whether the quoted vehicle suits an enclosed load, a tailgate requirement or a particular loading method. Do not assume that every hotshot quotation includes the same truck. Name the equipment available for loading and unloading at your addresses.

Clarify appointment waiting and any additional movement beyond the agreed handoff. Inside placement, lifting work or equipment installation is not automatically included in a transport price. Disclose those needs before accepting the quotation.

Treat timing as a service commitment

Tell dispatch why the arrival time matters and whether it is flexible. A quote for a confirmed direct collection today is different from an available later slot. WTM’s immediate dispatch after confirmation does not mean an identical pickup time for every origin and vehicle type.

If the load is not yet ready, use the supplier’s actual estimate and update changes promptly. Comparing rates against an impossible ready time can produce a price list that does not describe a bookable service.

Separate return transport from assumed backhaul savings

A truck heading towards Calgary may still need a specific collection, appropriate equipment and a receiving appointment. An empty return is not evidence of a fixed discount. Ask WTM for the actual offered rate for your movement.

Where a two-way exchange is required, show both loads and their release times. Review the quote and any applicable account offer through the Customer Portal. Retain the invoice and POD with the booking so the next comparison is based on the service actually performed.

Dedicated transport and shared-capacity LTL are different services. Compare each against your deadline and handling needs rather than price alone.
