A tall crate may have an acceptable weight and still be unsuitable for the vehicle assigned to a Calgary-to-Fort-McMurray LTL collection. WTM needs the final packed height, width and loading method to assess the usable opening. Trailer or truck capacity is not just a question of how much weight the vehicle can carry.
Shared-capacity freight options · Pallet-by-pallet quoting · Agreed loading and receiving arrangements

Measure the tallest point of the completed package
Include the skid, crate lid, lifting fittings and protective structures. Record the full width and length as well as height. A supplier’s product dimensions may exclude several features that remain attached during transportation.
State whether the crate must remain upright and whether its protective base can be changed by the supplier before release. Do not plan on the driver dismantling packaging at pickup to make the load fit.
Distinguish internal room from loading clearance
The usable door opening can differ from the interior cargo space. Tailgate or lifting equipment can introduce additional requirements. Ask dispatch to assess the actual opening and loading arrangement for the assigned vehicle, not an assumed standard truck size.
A clear packing drawing or photograph with measurements can be useful. Identify any restricted lifting direction, non-stackable top or uneven weight. These details help establish whether the proposed shared service is practical.
Check the destination as carefully as the origin
A Fort McMurray receiver may have a doorway, canopy or unloading area that limits the handoff. Explain the agreed delivery point and available equipment. A crate fitting the truck does not prove it can be moved into the buyer’s building.
Any internal placement or specialist lifting work needs separate agreement. Keep the transport endpoint clear so the receiver can arrange its own work beyond the accepted unloading point.
Choose another arrangement before loading day when needed
If the packed load does not fit the available shared equipment, WTM can assess an appropriate alternative rather than improvising at collection. Timing, preparation changes and dedicated equipment should be discussed with the buyer before the quote is accepted.
Keep the agreed measurements with the portal request and update any repacking. Use the delivery documents to identify the actual crate transported. Request the LTL assessment with the finished package—not only its nominal weight or the words “standard pallet.”
Keep the receiving team and accounts connected
Use the WTM Customer Portal to manage the request, quote approval and online payment. GPS visibility supports receiving coordination, while issued BOLs, PODs and invoices provide records for operations and accounts. Access previous shipments without rebuilding the history through email.

Frequently asked questions
Does a truck interior height guarantee that a crate can be loaded?
No. The usable opening and loading method also need to fit the complete package.
Will the driver remove the skid or crate to make it fit?
Do not assume that. The supplier should prepare an accepted shipping unit before the collection.
