WTM Logistics · Calgary–Fort McMurray · Southbound
WTM can assess LTL transportation for suitable non-stackable crates moving from Fort McMurray to Calgary. State that restriction before quoting, with the crate’s complete footprint, height and weight. A lightly loaded crate can still require substantial protected vehicle space when other freight cannot be placed above it.

Describe the reason for the handling restriction
Identify vulnerable tops, projecting components or packaging that cannot support another load. Use a clear instruction supplied by the owner or packer. Do not rely on a small label that the dispatcher never sees when the quotation is prepared.
Provide photographs or a drawing where the shape is hard to describe. The finished crate, skid and protective structure are the shipping unit. Measurements of the equipment alone can leave important protrusions out of the assessment.
Explain how the crate can be moved
State the lifting points or forklift access designed into the package and the loading equipment available at origin. If the crate has no practical fork access, tell dispatch before a standard collection is assigned.
At the Calgary receiver, confirm the unloading method and usable entrance. A tall or wide crate may require different equipment even if it falls below a vehicle’s overall payload. Loading access, not just carrying capacity, must work at both ends.
Choose shared freight or exclusive capacity deliberately
An accepted non-stackable crate may fit an LTL arrangement, but its footprint and restrictions affect that choice. Ask WTM to compare a dedicated option where timing or the load profile makes shared transport unsuitable.
Do not assume a non-stackable declaration automatically means a full truck, or that low weight guarantees an ordinary parcel rate. The actual package and service requirement should drive the decision.
Keep the accepted load description unchanged
Once the quote is approved, update any repacking, added pieces or changed dimensions before collection. A crate that gains a larger base or protective frame is not necessarily the same load that was originally assessed.
Use the portal to keep photographs, descriptions where provided, quote decisions and shipment references aligned. Retain the POD with the receiving job and inspect the package under your normal process. Request the quotation with the full crate profile and explicit stacking restriction from the start.

Frequently asked questions
Can a low-weight crate require significant freight space?
Yes. The footprint, height and non-stackable restriction can matter independently of its weight.
Does non-stackable automatically mean dedicated transport?
No. WTM assesses shared or dedicated options using the actual load and service requirements.
