Explain what changed from cartons to pallets

A larger order changes more than the total weight. Pallet height, airflow needs, stacking limits and unloading equipment all become part of the specification. Measure the prepared pallets and identify any cases that must remain upright or carry no load above them.

Keep product groups and their transport conditions clear. Chilled and frozen orders should not be combined under an assumed single setting. WTM reviews the required compatible equipment and service before accepting the load.

Have the products ready under the shipper’s process

The goods should be prepared and conditioned for the agreed transportation requirement before collection. Refrigerated freight is not a substitute for the supplier’s production cooling or packaging process.

Provide any requirement for temperature monitoring or records when requesting the quote. The accepted service should specify the evidence the receiver needs; a generic reference to refrigeration does not define every reporting expectation.

Coordinate docks and cold receiving

State the loading arrangement in Calgary and the actual receiving entrance in Red Deer. Confirm the appointment and personnel needed to unload and accept the pallets. A shop capable of receiving a few cartons may need a different plan for a pallet-scale order.

Where a tailgate is requested, provide the pallet dimensions, gross weight and receiving-surface details for equipment review. Any inside movement or additional handling should be included expressly rather than assumed from the cold-delivery description.

Keep the order record complete

Use the same commercial reference on the shipment request, issued BOL and receiver’s order documents. The receiving business performs its own product checks while WTM provides the agreed transportation and handoff records.

GPS shows where the shipment is travelling. It does not measure the product’s internal temperature, and the POD is not a food-acceptance certificate. Keeping these roles separate helps both parties ask for the records they actually require.

Can WTM quote one chilled pallet?

Yes. Supply the complete pallet specification, temperature instructions, readiness and receiving details for a refrigerated LTL assessment.

Should an urgent chilled pallet use ordinary LTL?

State the deadline first. WTM can discuss a suitable dedicated refrigerated movement when the order requires exclusive or faster transport rather than shared capacity.
