Ask the sender when the parcel can actually leave
A product may be ordered without being prepared for collection. Contact the store, supplier or person holding the goods to confirm the package is ready and courier release is authorised.
Name the collection contact and include any order reference. Give the actual ready time even if you request the quote earlier. That avoids arranging transport around a preparation time that the sender has not agreed.
For example, a customer can ask for a quote in the morning for a parcel that will be packed later, provided the request accurately states that later readiness.
Ask the receiver what “today” needs to mean
Check the person’s availability and the deadline that serves the purpose of the delivery. A parcel for an afternoon appointment needs to arrive before the appointment, not merely before midnight.
Give the full address, unit, company or department and receiving contact. Agree any reception or concierge handoff in advance. An arrival at a building is not enough if the person authorised to receive the parcel has already left.
