Sending a technician to collect parts makes sense when their presence is needed to identify or inspect the item. When the order is already selected and ready, a courier may let the technician stay on productive work instead. Compare the real collection task with an actual delivery quote rather than assuming either option is always cheaper.
WTM Logistics provides parts and business courier delivery. Request a quote with the supplier’s ready time and the location where the part needs to arrive.
Include the trip to the supplier, waiting at the counter, release checks and the return to work. Consider whether the technician can complete another useful task while a courier transports the order.
Do not equate every minute away with lost revenue automatically. The operational effect depends on your workload. A technician with no alternative work creates a different comparison from one whose departure delays another booked appointment.
Consider an illustrative business assigning $70 per hour to the technician time displaced by a collection. A 90-minute interruption represents $105 on that basis. Adding an illustrative $15 of vehicle cost gives $120 for comparison with a courier quote.
Those numbers are assumptions for the example, not WTM rates or industry wage estimates. Replace them with your own relevant costs or opportunity values, and avoid counting the same lost capacity twice. The useful result is a comparison your business can explain.
A courier is not a substitute for selecting an uncertain component. Confirm the specification, purchase and release before collection. If the supplier needs the technician to bring a sample or assess alternatives in person, that requirement belongs in your decision.
Once the correct order is prepared, WTM can collect it using the release reference and transport it to the named receiver. The supplier and customer remain responsible for deciding whether the part fits the job.
Ask when the part will be ready and the latest useful receiving time. Include the actual destination: a workshop, customer site or agreed meeting point may each require different routing and access instructions.
For illustration, a technician could continue another stage of the repair while an authorised site contact receives the delivery. That can be useful only when the service timing supports the work. A cheaper quote for a later arrival is not an equivalent solution to an urgent collection need.
Use the WTM Customer Portal to review and approve the quote, pay online and follow the shipment with real-time GPS. Provide an available receiver and retrieve the POD after the handoff. Tracking helps coordination; it does not replace access instructions or a contact at the site.
For predictable parts movements, discuss recurring service and WTM’s 10% recurring-shipment offer. Genuine urgent exceptions can still be quoted separately.
When inspection, selection or another task genuinely requires their presence. Include that value rather than treating the trip as transportation alone.
