Choose between courier and palletised LTL using the shipment’s packed size, total handling requirements and delivery access—not a fixed number of boxes. Several manageable cartons may suit a courier collection. A heavier or more substantial order may be easier to handle as a secured pallet.

Start with the finished shipment
Count the packages and measure each one after packing. Record weight, dimensions and whether the contents can tolerate normal parcel handling. Include any long, fragile or unusually shaped piece separately rather than describing everything as “five boxes.”
Then consider how the order will be moved at both ends. Can staff hand over the cartons individually? Is there a forklift or loading dock? Would keeping the order on a pallet make the handoff simpler? Those practical details often decide the service more reliably than a box count alone.

Do not overlook the pallet itself
A palletised quote should include the pallet’s footprint and overall height, not only the boxes sitting on it. Explain any overhang or inability to stack. Secure the shipment for transport, keeping identifying labels readable.
At a destination without suitable unloading equipment, WTM’s 5-ton truck and tailgate options may be relevant. Arrange that requirement in the quote; “pallet delivery” does not automatically tell dispatch how the receiver intends to unload it.
Let the deadline influence the choice
LTL and courier describe different handling arrangements, but neither label alone answers when your order will arrive. State when the goods are ready and when they are required.
A small urgent order may need direct courier transport. A planned pallet can be quoted on an appropriate freight service. A critical pallet may instead need dedicated or hotshot movement. Ask WTM to match the deadline and equipment rather than assuming all pallets follow one schedule.
Compare the whole delivery price
Request prices for realistic alternatives. If you ask about cartons versus a pallet, provide accurate details for both configurations and include collection, unloading and receiving requirements. A lower headline rate is not a saving when it leaves out something your delivery needs.
For example, compare six ready cartons with the same goods secured on a measured pallet. The point is not that one format always wins; it is to price the actual handoffs and space required.

Is there a universal box-count cutoff?
No useful decision can be made from count alone. Six small cartons and six heavy machinery boxes are different transportation jobs.
