Start with the missing supply, not a vague urgent request
Tell the supplier exactly which product is needed and arrange release before booking collection. Lids and containers, for example, need to be the matched items the business ordered. The courier should not be selecting substitutes at the collection counter.
Ask for the packed size and number of cartons. Empty packaging may be light while occupying substantial vehicle space. Weight alone does not describe a shipment of nested cups, takeaway boxes or large paper bags.
Keep the supplies protected through the handoff
Have the supplier prepare the order in closed, suitable outer packaging. Label each carton with the destination and order reference, especially when a supplier is releasing goods for several customers at once.
At the receiving end, identify the person accepting the order and where it should be placed as part of the agreed handoff. Avoid leaving that decision to a busy front counter that may not know an incoming supply delivery is expected.
Match the delivery to the operating day
A packaging shortage before a lunch service is different from replenishing stock for tomorrow. Give WTM both the supplier’s ready time and the customer’s required arrival time.
For urgent jobs, request the appropriate direct courier service. For planned replenishment, discuss scheduled delivery. A regular order does not need to become a rush simply because nobody coordinated the collection window until the stock ran out.
Coordinate several locations without mixing orders
Businesses with more than one outlet should keep each outlet’s cartons clearly separated. Provide the address, receiver and receiving window for every stop. One overall piece count does not tell the driver which branch receives which supplies.
For illustration, six cartons may belong to a café while four go to a second outlet. The stop list should show that allocation. If the whole order is delivered to a central store instead, make that the booked destination rather than assuming distribution to the outlets is included.
Make replenishment easier to repeat
Through the WTM Customer Portal, request collection, approve the quote, pay online and follow the delivery with real-time GPS. Available PODs and invoices give your buyer and accounts team records of the completed movement.
Set up a repeating supply pattern once you know normal usage and supplier readiness. WTM offers 10% off recurring shipments. Funded credit accounts separately offer up to 25% off eligible services, giving regular shippers another arrangement to consider.

Are refrigerated vehicles needed for empty packaging?
Not simply because the customer is a food business. Describe the packaging and any actual handling requirements; chilled food transport is a separate service.
