Plan supplies around the business that will use them
A service shop waiting for a part needs to know when it can resume the job. A retailer replenishing cartons may be planning for the next trading day. Those customers can share a courier provider without needing the same urgency.
Tell WTM what time the goods are required, and obtain the supplier’s actual release time. A planned delivery should not be labelled an emergency simply because the order was placed without checking when it would be ready.
Get the collection instructions from the releasing location
Provide the supplier’s order reference, collection contact and entrance. Explain whether the goods are at a counter or warehouse door, and whether a release authorisation is needed for WTM to collect on your behalf.
If the supplier is short of an item, decide whether to collect the available goods before booking. The driver should not be making purchasing decisions or selecting substitute parts. Your request should describe the packages actually being released.
Keep the destination ready for the handoff
Name the business, receiving person and delivery entrance. Include operating hours that apply to receiving, especially when the front office and workshop run different schedules.
For example, a component needed by a technician may have to be accepted by a supervisor while the technician is working elsewhere. Put that authorised contact in the instructions. The courier should not have to locate a particular employee across a worksite without a receiving plan.
Match the vehicle to the packed shipment
Count and measure the outer packages and provide their weights. A long boxed item or a heavy tool case needs a different description from an envelope, even when each is one piece.
Orders that become palletised can be quoted through LTL freight or suitable truck delivery. WTM’s courier options remain appropriate for the commercial packages the service is intended to handle; use the real packaging to decide, not the product’s catalogue photograph.
