You can arrange a repair return without the original box, but the equipment still needs packaging suitable for its weight, shape and condition. Start with the repair provider’s transport instructions, then ask WTM to quote the prepared shipment using its actual outer measurements.

Do not book an unpacked device as though a protective carton will appear at collection. Preparing the package is a separate task from arranging its transport.

Ask the repair provider what it will accept

Confirm the return reference, intake address and any particular packing instructions. Ask whether the provider requires a transport case, a specific accessory set or a particular way of securing moving parts.

The appropriate preparation depends on the equipment. A display, compact instrument and heavy mechanical assembly should not be given the same packing plan simply because each is being returned for repair.

Obtain suitable protection before the pickup

Use a sound outer container or appropriate transport case and enough internal protection to keep the contents secured. Protect protruding parts and separate accessories so they do not move freely against the main item.

For awkward, fragile or heavy equipment, arrange competent packing suited to the item before booking. Follow the manufacturer’s guidance rather than relying on a fragile sticker to replace protective packaging.

Tell WTM about the contents, condition and any battery, fluid or other handling issue requiring review. This allows the transport arrangement to be assessed against the prepared load.

Measure the finished package

Record the outer dimensions, packed weight and number of pieces after packing is complete. A replacement box may be larger than the original, and those new measurements belong in the quote.

Remove or cover obsolete routing labels when reusing suitable packaging. Put the repair authorisation and receiving contact with the correct consignment so the intake team can identify it.

Request a repair-return courier quote when the package is ready, or share the expected preparation time when planning ahead.

Choose the right handoff at both ends

Provide the collection entrance and person releasing the equipment. Confirm the repair receiver’s opening hours and intake point, which may differ from its sales address.

WTM can discuss 5-ton transport where the prepared item needs a pallet, tailgate or larger vehicle. Do not describe that load as a standard parcel merely because it is one piece of equipment.

Keep the journey connected to the repair

Use the WTM Customer Portal for quote approval, payment and shipment progress. Retrieve the POD and invoice and keep them with your repair reference.

Does WTM automatically supply replacement packaging?

Do not assume packing materials or specialist packing labour are part of a courier quote. Arrange preparation first and discuss any additional service explicitly before collection.

Does the POD certify that the repaired item is working?

No. It records the delivery handoff. Inspection, repair and testing remain with the service provider.

Prepare the package, then move it with a clear record. Call WTM Logistics at 587-316-2639.
