Quote the space your packed freight occupies

Measure each pallet’s outside length, width and height, including its base, wrapping and any overhang. Give the gross weight and identify whether another load can safely be stacked above it. A count of two pallets is incomplete when one is much taller or heavier than the other.

Group identical pallets only when their dimensions, weights and handling really match. Otherwise list them separately. Accurate information supports equipment and capacity planning and gives you a better basis for comparing quotations.

Choose the service using both size and deadline

LTL is about the transport arrangement, not a rigid rule that every load within a particular weight band must use it. A small urgent skid might need dedicated hotshot service, while several ready pallets with a planned delivery window can suit shared freight.

WTM confirms the available service and timing for your shipment. Eligible booked next-day services carry WTM’s next-day commitment; do not infer the same timetable for every load solely from the fact that Calgary and Lethbridge are in the network.

Include collection and unloading in the quote

Tell WTM whether the Calgary pickup has a dock or forklift and whether the Lethbridge receiver needs a tailgate truck. Include appointments, access restrictions and any inside-delivery request. A transport-only rate is not a complete comparison when your delivery requires additional work.

For illustration, a small business receiving one wrapped pallet at street level should disclose its unloading surface and equipment before booking. The shipment can then be planned with an appropriate handoff rather than arriving on the assumption that every commercial address has a dock.

Connect freight documents to the physical load

Identify the shipper, consignee, piece count and references used by the two businesses. Keep the BOL, packing list and delivery information consistent. A document describing five cartons does not clearly describe one pallet containing five cartons unless the relationship is stated.

Use the WTM LTL service as the broader freight reference. Your route quote should then confirm the actual packed load, service commitment and receiving arrangement rather than relying on a generic example.

Yes. Provide its dimensions, weight, contents and both-end handling details for a quote.

Does LTL mean my freight has a dedicated vehicle?

No. Shared-capacity LTL and exclusive dedicated transport are different arrangements. Request the one your shipment needs.
