Create a line for each physical pallet
Record dimensions after wrapping, including the pallet and any protruding parts. State each unit’s gross weight. Do not divide an estimated total equally when the units are visibly different; the loading plan needs the actual distribution.
Identify whether other freight may be placed above each pallet. A light display on a tall skid can use substantial protected space even though its weight is modest. WTM needs that information before offering the appropriate shared-capacity arrangement.
Describe the pickup and delivery equipment
Give the Calgary supplier’s goods entrance and loading method. At the Fort McMurray end, specify a dock, forklift or need for ground-level handling. A quote for two equipped warehouses is not the same job as delivering to a small business without unloading equipment.
Provide photographs or packing information where the load is unusual. A straight truck or trailer’s overall size does not establish the usable door opening or prove a particular crate can be loaded as presented.
Let the deadline determine whether LTL fits
LTL suits accepted loads that can use the agreed shared service. If a critical deadline requires exclusive vehicle use, ask WTM to compare a dedicated option. One pallet can justify a hotshot, while three nonurgent pallets may fit LTL.
State both the ready time and the latest receiving time. WTM confirms the commitment for the actual lane and consignment; avoid using a general highway drive time as the delivery promise for shared freight.
Keep measurement and quote records together
Use the Customer Portal to submit the shipment, approve the quote and arrange payment. Keep the accepted pallet description with the shipment documents so operations and accounts can identify the load that was priced.
When packaging changes, update the measurements before collection. A repacked unit with new overhang or height may need a revised assessment. Request your LTL quote using a complete pallet-by-pallet list rather than the phrase “just a couple of skids.”
