Local LTL Delivery in the GTA: Pallets, Docks and Tailgates
Send a prepared pallet or commercial freight order across the GTA without automatically reserving a full vehicle. WTM Logistics can quote local LTL delivery using the actual load, collection address, receiving setup and timing.

Start with the pallet your business will hand over
LTL shares capacity with compatible shipments. Suitability depends on the commodity, occupied space, weight, handling and schedule. There is no universal number of pallets that makes every local shipment LTL.
Measure each prepared handling unit from its furthest edges. Include the pallet, packaging and overhang in the dimensions and gross weight. State which units are non-stackable, fragile, long or unusually shaped. A quote for an ordinary skid may not describe a tall cabinet or heavy crate.
Tell WTM how both premises handle freight
A dock-to-dock movement is different from a delivery to a ground-level shop. Confirm available forklifts, dock access, receiving hours and any appointment. If the receiver needs a tailgate, request it before booking and provide the unit dimensions and weight for a fit assessment.
A pallet jack requires a compatible base and a suitable firm surface. It does not automatically solve gravel, stairs, steep slopes or an inside-delivery requirement. Explain the exact handoff point and any additional labour or placement needed.
Quote the GTA route accurately
Give actual pickup and delivery postal codes for Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham, Richmond Hill or another community. Identify the correct warehouse bay and receiving contact, especially at sites with several businesses or entrances.
Regional roads such as Highways 401, 400 and 427 help describe the geography, but the operating route depends on the vehicle and addresses. A short map distance does not determine an LTL delivery schedule; collection windows, shared capacity and the receiving appointment still matter.
Compare the whole local freight quote
Ask whether the quoted amount includes the required fuel charges, appointments, waiting allowance, tailgate service and extra stops. Give the same load and scope when comparing options. If the shipment changes after quoting, send the revised details before collection.
Planning example: a Mississauga wholesaler sends two pallets to a Vaughan showroom. One pallet is compact boxed stock; the other holds a tall display and cannot support top freight. List them separately, confirm door clearance and request the correct unloading arrangement. “Two pallets to Vaughan” would leave out the decisive facts.
Routine restocking and urgent exceptions
For regular branch replenishment, share normal supplier release days, typical load sizes and receiving capacity. Define how backorders and split releases are handled. A larger-than-usual order may need a different vehicle or service even when the addresses stay the same.
If a pallet is needed urgently, compare dedicated or hotshot transport against the available LTL timing. If the order consists of manageable cartons, request a courier assessment. The shipment’s prepared configuration and deadline should determine the choice.
