WTM Logistics · Shipping questions answered

You can request transportation for one sofa, table or other furniture item without booking a complete household move. WTM Logistics can quote the vehicle and handling for a suitable single-item shipment within its coverage. Describe whether the item is packed or assembled, where it stands now and where the receiver expects it to be placed.

An item count does not describe the handling

“One sofa” might mean a boxed new piece at a warehouse dock or a used sectional in an upstairs room. Give the individual dimensions and weights of all sections. For a table, identify detachable legs and any separate glass, stone or other delicate top.

A photograph helps establish the shape, but the quote also needs the preparation and access details. The dimensions of the largest section after packing are particularly useful when checking the vehicle and the building entrance.

FedEx’s furniture guidance notes that suitable preparation depends on construction, materials and projecting parts. That is a useful reminder to describe the actual object, rather than assuming one furniture-box method applies to every item.

Decide what you need done at each address

A transport-ready collection can differ substantially from removal out of a furnished room. State the pickup floor, stairs, lift availability and distance to the vehicle. At delivery, distinguish unloading from threshold handoff, inside placement and assembly.

WTM’s white-glove transportation service is the relevant starting point when the requested job involves more than an ordinary freight handoff. Agree the exact scope before proceeding; the description “furniture delivery” does not automatically include dismantling or installation.

Use a suitable service rather than the biggest vehicle

A compact, adequately packed item may fit a smaller vehicle. A bulky sofa or fragile table may need a different arrangement even when it is relatively light. The key questions are the space occupied, protection and handling—not simply whether it is under a particular weight.

For longer regional shipments, ask whether a planned freight option suits the packed item and deadline. When the work needs dedicated transport or a coordinated inside-delivery crew, the quote should reflect those requirements instead.

Coordinate the sale independently

For a private purchase, finish the commercial agreement and have the seller authorise release before collection. A driver should not be expected to negotiate a discount, test furniture mechanisms or confirm that the item meets the buyer’s expectations.

For example, a buyer may purchase a dining table already dismantled and wrapped by the seller. The shipment description should then identify the protected top, legs and hardware packet. A receiving plan that includes assembly would be a different job from delivery of those prepared pieces.

Can you collect furniture from a storage unit?

Provide the authorised access contact and describe how the item will reach the vehicle. Unit access, gate hours and any lifting needs must be part of the booking.

Does a low weight make the delivery cheap?

Not necessarily. Floor space, stairs, packaging and the required handling can matter as much as weight. Compare complete service quotes rather than a parcel price for an item that will not travel as a parcel.
