WTM Logistics · Shipping questions answered
WTM Logistics can quote freight transport for a removed engine or transmission going to a workshop, supplier or buyer. The assembly needs a stable shipping base, a clear description of its condition and suitable loading at both ends. A complete automotive unit is not the same shipment as a small carton of repair parts.
Practical answers for parcels, pallets and business freight

Start with a transport-ready assembly
Ask the workshop preparing the unit to provide its packed dimensions, gross weight and support arrangement. A suitable cradle or crate must support the assembly without relying on fragile housings or projecting fittings. Include the base and protective packaging when measuring the load.
List detached brackets, pipes, accessories or other items separately. The receiver should know whether the shipment is one secured assembly or a main unit plus additional cartons. The words “complete engine” mean little when the buyer and seller expect different accessories.
Deal with fluid and fuel information before collection
Have the sender identify fluids, residue and any hazardous components, and prepare the assembly for the applicable transport requirements. Do not call a used unit dry merely because it is no longer installed in a vehicle.
FedEx’s automotive guidance specifically addresses fluid-containing parts and leak prevention. Its instructions are carrier-specific, but they illustrate why this information belongs in a freight request. WTM must know what the prepared shipment contains; a mechanic or suitably qualified shipper should resolve the preparation and classification, not the driver at pickup.
Match loading equipment to the weight and base
Tell WTM whether the sender and receiver have forklifts or other suitable lifting arrangements. A workshop may have an engine hoist but no loading dock. A private buyer may have neither. Those circumstances need to be included when selecting the vehicle and handoff.
Tailgate service can be reviewed for a suitably sized and weighted load. It is not an assurance that every engine cradle can be moved over a gravel driveway or through a garage door. Confirm the accessible unloading point and who takes responsibility after handoff.
Choose planned freight or urgent workshop delivery
A buyer with a flexible installation date may be able to use LTL. A workshop waiting on a replacement before an agreed repair slot may need dedicated hotshot service. State the real deadline and ask for the suitable options rather than assuming all engines need the most urgent service.
If the repaired assembly is going out and the old core is coming back, describe two consignments. They may have different weights, fluids and packaging. A core return also needs the supplier’s reference and acceptance arrangement; it is not automatically included in the outgoing freight price.
Keep transport records linked to the repair
Photograph the prepared load and record the unit identification supplied by the owner. Use the workshop job or return reference on the transport request. Keep commercial documents associated with the shipment without treating delivery confirmation as proof of mechanical condition.
Can an individual arrange this shipment?
Yes. The vehicle and preparation requirements depend on the load and locations, not on whether the person booking owns a company.
Can WTM remove the engine from the vehicle?
This freight service is for an assembly already prepared for collection. Removal, repair and installation are separate workshop tasks and are not included by describing a shipment as door-to-door.
Request a WTM engine or transmission freight quote with the base dimensions, prepared weight, loading access and workshop deadline.
