WTM can return suitable reusable shipping cases, racks and totes from Fort McMurray to Calgary using an agreed LTL service. Empty packaging still needs an accurate load description. Count the assets, identify their owner and measure the prepared shipping units so the receiver can reconcile the return and the carrier can allocate appropriate space.

Create an asset return list
Separate items belonging to different suppliers or rental pools. Record the quantities and any asset identifiers your business uses. The Calgary recipient should know what is being returned before the pallets arrive.
A delivery receipt records the handoff of the described shipment; it does not automatically settle a packaging deposit or confirm the owner’s asset count. Keep the return register and any supplier account adjustment as separate business records.
Measure the nested or stacked load as shipped
Cases or totes may use much less space when nested, but measure the finished unit rather than guessing from an individual container. Include the supporting pallet, wrapping and protective structure. State whether anything may be stacked above the load.
Secure lids, detachable parts and loose pieces so they stay with the intended asset group. A tall light stack can still need careful handling and enough protected space. Low weight does not make the footprint irrelevant.
Disclose previous contents and condition
Describe any residues, contamination concerns or special preparation requirements before transport acceptance. Empty containers should not be assumed suitable for ordinary freight simply because they no longer contain the original product.
The owner is responsible for preparing the assets under the agreed instructions. WTM is not automatically booked to clean, inspect or certify reusable containers. Keep food-contact or other specialised preparation decisions with the responsible business.
Connect the return with future supply without assuming a free backhaul
Give the Calgary receiving warehouse, reference, hours and unloading equipment. Discuss a recurring return pattern if packaging regularly accumulates in Fort McMurray, but obtain the applicable quote for the actual movement.
A southbound direction does not guarantee an empty truck or a particular discounted rate. Use the portal to approve the arrangement and retrieve the POD for asset reconciliation. Request LTL with the final nested dimensions, condition description and owner-specific return list.
