Ask the repairer what needs to accompany the unit

Obtain a booking or service reference before collection. The shop may need a particular power supply, foot controller or other accessory, but it may not need every item normally used with the instrument. Pack the agreed contents and keep your own itemised record.

Do not leave the courier to explain a fault or negotiate repairs at the counter. Send the technical description to the shop separately and place the reference with the protected equipment so it can be matched to the service request.

Use packaging designed around the item

A rigid case can protect an instrument, but loose movement inside that case can still be a problem. Follow the manufacturer’s or repairer’s packing instructions and protect exposed controls, corners and projecting parts. Secure accessories rather than letting them move against the equipment.

Provide the final case dimensions and weight. A large speaker cabinet or a heavy amplifier may require more than ordinary parcel handling. Discuss lifting assistance, upright transport or a freight option where appropriate before the collection is accepted.

Check both counters’ opening hours

A music shop can be open for sales while its service intake follows different hours. Confirm the Calgary drop-off address and the person or department accepting repairs. Identify parking or access constraints that affect the agreed handoff.

The same applies to pickup. An instrument held at a rehearsal space needs a person there to release it; a contact elsewhere in Red Deer cannot unlock that location merely by confirming the courier order.

Keep the return journey flexible but defined

Repair completion is the workshop’s decision. Arrange the first delivery to its intake window, then book the return after the repaired item has been released. Update the package count if the shop supplies a replacement case or returns additional components.

Your WTM shipment history, POD and invoice provide a transport record for each direction. Keep repair estimates, approvals and test results with the shop’s service file. This separates the movement of the item from the work carried out on it.

Is this a piano-moving service?

Not as an ordinary courier booking. Disclose very heavy, oversized or specialist instruments so WTM can assess the actual handling and equipment required.

Can I send an amplifier in its retail box?

Use the packaging appropriate to that unit and its condition, following the manufacturer’s or repairer’s guidance. Describe the packed load and any special handling before booking.
