WTM Logistics · Hotshot · Southbound
WTM’s Calgary to Lethbridge hotshot service provides dedicated direct transportation for urgent freight. Choose it when the shipment’s deadline calls for its own movement rather than waiting for shared capacity. Dispatch begins immediately after confirmation; the actual pickup and delivery plan depends on the load, ready time, locations and assigned equipment.

Tell dispatch what has stopped or what must happen next
A shipment marked urgent gives less useful information than a component needed before a repair shift finishes. State the latest useful arrival time and who will receive it. Include the supplier’s genuine release time so the vehicle is sent to a prepared load.
WTM can then assess a direct movement against the customer’s requirement. A hotshot booking is not a promise that all road conditions, loading work or receiving delays disappear. The agreed plan should identify the useful handoff, not simply the vehicle departure.
Match the vehicle to both ends of the job
Give the packed dimensions, gross weight and number of pieces. State whether the goods are a carton, a skid, a crate or an awkward component. Explain the loading equipment at the Calgary origin and the unloading arrangements at the Lethbridge destination.
A pallet without a forklift at delivery may need a tailgate-equipped straight truck. A smaller component may suit an enclosed vehicle. The fact that a load is urgent does not remove the need to confirm its physical fit and handling.
Keep direct hotshot distinct from other services
A routine parcel can suit courier delivery. A non-urgent pallet may suit LTL. A hotshot reserves an agreed direct movement for the urgent consignment; adding unrelated drops would change that service description.
For illustration, a contractor might move one essential boxed control unit by hotshot while the rest of a supply order stays on its planned freight service. Splitting priorities can be more useful than treating every box as equally time-critical. Quote each movement using its own requirements.
Close the handoff with the receiving team
Give dispatch the site or department contact and any gate procedure. The receiver should know what is arriving and be ready with the agreed unloading resources. If the site changes, obtain an updated plan rather than redirecting the driver to an unassessed address.
Use real-time GPS tracking for shipment visibility and the POD for the completed delivery record. For road planning, 511 Alberta provides highway-condition and incident information; check the live service rather than a static travel-time claim in an article.
Hotshot questions
Can one box justify a hotshot?
Yes. The service choice can be driven by the deadline rather than the load’s size.
Is submitting the quote form a confirmed dispatch?
No. WTM confirms the quote, service and shipment acceptance before dispatching the booked movement.
